Certified copies of birth, marriage, and death certificates can now be conveniently obtained from your home through our online service.
Through our Online eBMD service, you can access the following:

📦 Document Obtaining Options
- If the requested certificate is available in the eBMD system, it can be obtained via the One Day Service at the Registrar Division of any Divisional Secretariat island-wide or by applying online.
- If the requested certificate is not found in the eBMD system, it must be obtained from the Registrar Division of the Divisional Secretariat where it was originally registered, or by submitting an online application specifically to that originally registered DS office.
- Sri Lankans living overseas can apply for copies of their Birth, Marriage, and Death certificates at the Sri Lankan Embassy located in their country.
📋 Steps to Apply
- Visit our website: https://online.ebmd.rgd.gov.lk
- Fill in the application – Enter accurate details related to the birth, marriage, or death certificate you are requesting.
- Make the payment – A payment link will be sent to your email and phone number within 2 days. Use secure online payment methods.
- Receive your document – You can either receive it by post to your address or collect it from the respective Divisional Secretariat Office’s Registrar Division.
- This entire process takes 5 working days.
